Jesus once said that any service to a neighbor in need is service to him (Matt. 25:35-40). The people of Freemason Street have found a number of ways to catch the vision, and one of those is Habitat for Humanity (

Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the world to carry out the Habitat mission to eliminate poverty housing and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses for low-income families throughout the 7 cites of South Hampton Roads.  Freemason Street Baptist is a member of the Norfolk Covenant of Churches, which builds homes for carefully selected families who go through an intensive screening and training process, then work alongside of volunteers to build a home for their family.  Our church is a contributor of both funds and volunteers, having participated in seven builds to date.
