Jesus once said that any service to a neighbor in need is service to him (Matt. 25:35-40). The people of Freemason Street have found a number of ways to catch the vision, and one of those is Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org.)

Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the world to carry out the Habitat mission to eliminate poverty housing and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses for low-income families throughout the 7 cites of South Hampton Roads.  Freemason Street Baptist is a member of the Norfolk Covenant of Churches, which builds homes for carefully selected families who go through an intensive screening and training process, then work alongside of volunteers to build a home for their family.  Our church is a contributor of both funds and volunteers, having participated in seven builds to date.
